REVIEW: Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen (True North #1)

Bittersweet

Title: Bittersweet
Series: True North #1
Author: Sarina Bowen
Publication Date: June 14th 2016
Publisher: Rennie Road Books
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Rating: 5 Stars
The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.
The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.
At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.
Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.
They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

My Review

This book was so sweet, and I loved every single second of it!

This is my first Sarina Bowen book, and I have to say, it did not disappoint. At all. The writing, the story and the characters were all so beautifully written that I fell in love with it all. The story was just stunning, humorous and oh-so-damn sexy. And the main plot line itself is unique, and everything is fresh and organic just like them damn juicy apples in Vermont ;)

Audrey Kidder is a wonder of a woman. She might have flunked out of college twice and is currently struggling to keep a job, but she is a super woman in the kitchen standing next to something she's so passionate about. I loved her character. She was always so realistic and so fun to read about. She cracked jokes and traded laughter and I would find myself always smiling at Audrey and Griffin's back and forth banter.

Talking about Griffin, our hunky grumpy man. He is sex on legs with a beard (optional but encouraged) that is more wonderful than a goose down pillow. And dammmnn, his ciders are great...just sayin'. And Griffin and Audrey together? Hot. Hot. HOT.

To be honest, I was a bit iffy when I picked up this book, but as soon as I started I could not stop. It was so addicting I finished it in less than 4 hours on a Monday night (or should I say, Tuesday morning). Ms. Bowen did not disappoint, and I gobbled up every single word she fed me even though it left me even more thirstier for more. And this is how I'm left at 1:28AM, heading straight for Jude's book.

Not only did I love the relationship of Griffin and Audrey, but all of the business talks and dealings about buying and supplying was also one of my favourite things about this book. It's so informative, and being so makes it so realistic to the real world.

In the end, this whole novel was just beautiful and utterly sweet. I enjoyed every second of it, and I seriously can't wait to move on to Steadfast because I am ready for Jude right this second ;D

Ms. Sarina Bowen, you just earned yourself a new fangirl ;)
