REVIEW: Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Title:Walking Disaster
Author: Jamie McGuire
Series: Beautiful #2
Publication Date: April 16th 2013

How much is too much to love?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.
In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. Just when he thought he was invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.
Every story has two sides. In Jamie McGuire's New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster Abby had her say. Now it's time to see the story through Travis's eyes.

My Review

When I read Beautiful Disaster (book 1), I fell in love with that book. It was my first ever NA and I never had any expectations for it, but it wowed me anyway. So after finishing book 1, I was waiting and waiting for book 2 to come out like a dog waiting for his owner to come home. I had such high expectations for this book that I didn't think about its flaws.

When I finally got this book in my hand, I was jumping around like a maniac, happy and all that, but when I opened the book and started reading, everything went poof! down. To be honest, I didn't even finish this book. I know I should have at least got to the last page, but I couldn't. I literally couldn't.

Like I said, I had such high expectations about the book, the characters and the plot that I didn't think about anything else. I love Travis, I really do. But this book was basically about telling the same thing that happened in book 1 in another character's point of view. I learnt nothing new. Jamie could've included more details on how Travis felt in some scenes, but she didn't. She didn't go deep enough to keep me interested.

Walking Disaster was (I'm going to say it) a disappointment. I wanted to see more, to read more about Travis' past, life and friends outside of falling in love with Abby. I couldn't finish the book because it didn't keep me interested enough. Beautiful Disaster had me bouncing on the heels on my feet just waiting to see what happens next, but Walking Disaster was just so predictable that I became bored not even half way through.

I wanted to like this book, wanted to enjoy every single moment of it, but I didn't. It was such a shame. I don't know what you guys think. Many people loved this book, but some didn't. I am still a fan of Jamie McGuire, but I just didn't like WD. I'm looking forward to read Red Hill, an apocalyptic book that she'd written. And I hope that with Travis' brothers' stories, I would enjoy them as much as I enjoyed reading Beautiful Disaster.
