ARC REVIEW: Addicted For Now by Krista and Becca Ritchie

Addicted For Now by Krista & Becca Ritchie

Title: Addicted For Now
Author(s): Krista & Becca Ritchie
Series: Addicted #2
Publication Date: November 30th 2013

He's addicted to booze. She's addicted to sex...staying sober is only half the battle.
No. More. Sex.
Those are the three words Lily Calloway fears the most. But Loren Hale is determined to be with Lily without enabling her dangerous compulsions. With their new living situation—sleeping in the same bed, for real, together—Lily has new battles. Like not jumping Lo’s bones every night. Not being consumed by sex and his body.
Loren plans to stay sober, to right all of his wrongs. So when someone threatens to expose Lily’s secret to her family and the public, he promises that he’ll do anything to protect her. But with old enemies surfacing, Lo has more at stake than his sobriety.
They will torment Lily until Lo breaks.
And his worst fear isn’t relapsing. He hears the end. He sees it. The one thing that could change everything. Just three words.
No. More. Us.

My Review

E-copy given by the author(s) in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I just want to say that this series is one of my absolute favourite series of all time! Krista and Becca had me addicted from the first book, and they did it again with this one. This series explores the depths of addictions, love, and how far you would go to save someone you love.

ADDICTED FOR NOW was meaningful, hilarious at some points and heartbreaking. The story touched me in the way that I can't explain in words. The characters were so amazingly created and the relationship that each character had made me want to live in their world. Lily is the main character in this series, we get to read her POV and we get to know more of her throughout the story. She is a sex addict. Always has been ever since she was a young teenager. And the only person that she trust the most is Loren (Lo).

Lily isn't a strong or brave girl that I normally read about, she is weak, and she is an addict. Her addiction makes her weak and fragile. But even though she is who she is, throughout the story, she learns how to deal with her addiction, how to be braver and to beat her fears instead of letting it beat her. And I love that about her.

Now onto the *fan myself* hot part of the story. Loren Hale.

Lo is also an addict. Not sex, no, he's addicted to alcohol. The relationship between Lily and Lo is unhealthy for both of them, but instead of saying "Oh, our relationship is unhealthy, let's break up", he stays where he is and fight for their relationship. Lo has known Lily ever since they were little kids, and has grown closer to her than anyone else. After getting out of rehab, Lo is getting better. But he still has to fight the urges to drink alcohol. And that is a challenge.

Apart from Lily and Lo, the side characters were amazing. Ryke (Lo's half-brother) is supportive, even though he is a complete bastard who can't say one sentence without swearing (I love this guy). He's helping both Lily and Lo and even though he doesn't show it, his relationship with Lo is stronger than ever. Rose and Connor is also very supportive, they help out with everything they can and even though they have a little 'trouble in paradise' themselves, they still care and does everything to help.

Going through with their addictions, it's already hard enough, and with the media involved, it's even harder. Lo is the heir of Hale Co. and Lily is one of the daughters of the owner of Fizzle (a drink company). And with their secrets threatening to pour out to the media, they have to fight harder for their love.

Like I said, the story is heartbreaking, but the part that I really really love about Krista and Becca's writing is that they make the humour so natural. Some authors force the humour out, but in this book, I just laugh without realising it.

Overall, I am in love with this whole series and I cannot wait to read the spin-off novels, Kiss The Sky (Connor & Rose's story) and Hothouse Flower (Ryke & Daisy's story).

About The Author(s)

Becca Ritchie claims she's from Mystic Falls, but really, she lives in Atlanta where humidity is her greatest foe. She loves comic books, blue nail polish and Jonathan Taylor Thomas circa 1995. She frequents Twitter to dish about too many TV shows, and when she's not blogging, s
he writes novels and has teamed up with her twin sister to collaborate on a New Adult series.
Krista Ritchie has a clone...or someone who looks exactly like her. If she's not writing books with her twin sister, she's pouring over entertainment news and ingesting copious amounts of pop culture. She likes tennis, that thing called the TV, and beating Becca (her clone) on Sega Genesis. She created  YA Book Exchange to combat her book buying addiction and started Nawanda Files, a YA Book Blog that features books into movies news, to share her love for all things bookish. Oh, and she does something called science. Whatever that is.
Krista & Becca Ritchie write New Adult books that make you cringe, gasp, and go ooh-la-la. (If you do that sort of thing.) They are currently working on the spin-offs and final books in the Addicted series. Connect with them on twitter and their website: kbritchie.com
